¿Tiene Cristo Su propio lugar entre los hijos de Dios? ¿Es para ellos el Objeto? O por el contrario ¿es una doctrina, un dogma, un partido, nuestra experiencia ... algo por encima de Cristo? Somos como Pedro en el monte de la transfiguración, cuando él dijo a Jesús: “Si quieres hagamos aquí tres pabellones”. Muy solemnemente el Padre reprobó tal idea: “Y estando aún él hablando, he aquí una nube de luz que los cubrió; y he aquí una voz de la nube, que dijo: Este es Mi Hijo amado, en el cual tomo contentamiento: a Él oíd. Y oyendo esto los discípulos, cayeron sobre sus rostros, y temieron en gran manera. Entonces Jesús llegando, los tocó, y dijo: Levantaos, y no temáis. Y alzando ellos sus ojos, a nadie vieron, sino a sólo Jesús” (Mateo 17:1-81And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. 6And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. (Matthew 17:1‑8)). ¿Ven nuestros ojos “a nadie, sino a sólo Jesús”?
• ¿Es cuestión de nuestro parentesco con Dios? “Sois hijos de Dios por la fe en Cristo Jesús” (Gálatas 3:2626For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:26)).
• ¿Cuánto a la cuestión de nuestra experiencia? “Porque para mí el vivir es Cristo” (Filipenses 1:2121For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. (Philippians 1:21)).
• ¿Será la cuestión del cielo o del lugar hacia el cual mi camino me lleva? El Señor lo define: “Para que donde Yo estoy, vosotros estéis también” (Juan 14:33And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:3)).
Conozcamos más de esa dicha y beatitud que nos vienen de hacernos de Cristo nuestro todo, y por ver a “sólo Jesús”.
En nuestro egoísmo pedimos e imploramos bendiciones. Es al que bendice a Quien necesitamos nosotros, a Él mismo. Él es el gozo del corazón del Padre. Gustemos con Él la delicia que el Padre halla en Su Hijo. Cristo es infinitamente más sublime que cualquier doctrina o experiencia. Podemos tener experiencias, pero Él es el único que puede satisfacer y extasiar nuestros corazones.
¿Por qué es que no somos transformados más de “gloria en gloria”? (2 Corintios 3:1818But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Corinthians 3:18)). El velo ha sido rasgado; la sangre ha sido rociada; el Espíritu ha sido dado. La razón de ello es que estamos más ocupados en nosotros mismos y en la obra del Espíritu en nosotros, que en sólo Cristo. Este es el punto débil en el tan ampliamente desplegado movimiento de santidad, mucho más cuanto más superficial es. Miremos más esa faz descubierta (quiere decir, ya sin velo que impida), de la cual emana la luz del conocimiento de la gloria de Dios (2 Corintios 3 y 4). Todo lo demás palidecerá y se desvanecerá si nosotros fijamos la mira en Él.
El Espíritu nunca me ocupa con Su trabajo en mí, y si yo estoy en ello ocupado, me encuentro realmente fuera del Espíritu. Está escrito: “No hablará de Sí mismo”. “Él me glorificará” (Juan 16:5-155But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? 6But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. 7Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. 12I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. 14He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you. 15All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you. (John 16:5‑15)). Hay aún más: la obra de Cristo, tan maravillosamente bendita como es, no debe nunca ser el objeto de mi corazón. Esta da paz a mi conciencia, una muy dulce paz, pero solamente SU PERSONA puede satisfacer mi corazón, y, ¡en qué manera Su Persona lo satisface!
Él es el objeto de la fe; Él es el objeto del amor; Él es el objeto de la esperanza; y la fe, el amor, y la esperanza que no hace de Él su objeto, es falsa e ilusoria. Él es el todo en mi camino; Él es el todo en mi servicio; Él es el todo en mi adoración; ¡Bendito sea Su santo Nombre! Él ya no está en la cruz, ni tampoco en la tumba; Él está en el trono. ¡Maravillosa realidad! un Hombre en la gloria de Dios, y Ese es mi Salvador, mi Sacerdote, mi Abogado —el que por mí murió, y el que por mí vive, y el que me vendrá a buscar: el Novio de Su Iglesia.
Entonces no es sorprendente que Pedro exclamara: “Para vosotros pues que creéis, Él es precioso” (1 Pedro 2:7,7Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, (1 Peter 2:7) Versión Moderna). Tanto para el mundo impío como para el religioso, su tendencia es echar fuera a Él. El primero de ellos está “reservado para el fuego”; cuanto al último, Él lo vomitará de Su boca (2 Pedro 3 y Apocalipsis 3). Por tanto si no estamos limpios de ambos, “salgamos pues a Él” (Hebreos 13:1313Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. (Hebrews 13:13)). Él es suficiente, y le agrada a Su corazón que hagamos de Él nuestro todo.
Que esté con nosotros esto —Cristo, Cristo, CRISTO—. Tú no podrás obtener una mejor porción, o mejor lugar que el que Él nos da. Tu porción aquí será: “sustento y con qué cubrirnos”, tu lugar “fuera del real”. TU porción allí es “toda bendición espiritual”; tu lugar, “en Él”.
