Whither I go, thou canst not follow Me now; but thou shalt follow Me afterward.
None but Jesus could lay down His life that He might take it again. All others who entered into death were taken captive by it. Jesus boldly entered into the fortress of death and conquered it, setting its captives free. Jesus told Peter that he would follow Him into death afterwards. Jesus settled the question of sin and took the sting out of death; and so Peter was able to face death without fear. For the lost, death is the “King of Terrors”; for the saved, there is no terror in going to be with our King!
