The well-known ornament worn by women and men in the East (Gen. 24:22, 30, 4722And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold; (Genesis 24:22)

In Isaiah 3:2020The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings, (Isaiah 3:20) the allusion is not to a ring for the ear, but to an amulet on which a charm could be written.
