• Una vez que el Espíritu haya sido tomado en la venida del Señor (el rapto), la corrupción y la violencia crecerán en forma acelerada. En el presente, el Espíritu de Dios está sobre la tierra refrenando las pasiones del hombre, pero luego la moral será dejada de lado en un grado asombroso. La vida en la tierra moralmente se parecerá a los días de Noé y Lot (Lc. 17:26-29). “La iniquidad abundará” (2 Ts. 2:6-7; Mt. 24:12).
El resurgimiento del imperio romano
• Luego de que la verdadera Iglesia haya sido llamada al cielo, el sistema católico romano aparentemente reunirá consigo muchos sectores del cristianismo (conocidos como sus hijos; Ap. 2:23) en un sistema religiosa corrupto llamado “la gran ramera — la misteriosa Babilonia.” Esta es la falsa iglesia (Ap. 17:1-2).
• Así como en el pasado la Iglesia romana buscó influenciar el sistema gubernamental, entrará nuevamente en la arena política en una campaña para unir las naciones de Europa occidental, y tal vez alguna de América del Norte. Países tales como Italia, Inglaterra, Francia, España, y otros que han tenido la luz y los privilegios del cristianismo (el evangelio), siendo cristianos nominales solamente, serán involucrados en su coalición. El poder de Roma, el dinero y la influencia, ayudarán a unir a estas naciones en una confederación de diez países llamada “la Bestia” (Ap. 6:1-2; 1º sello).
• La formación de esta confederación occidental de naciones constituye el resurgimiento del antiguo imperio romano predicho en las Escrituras. Se puede referir también como Babilonia o la Bestia (aspecto político; Ap. 13:3; Dn. 2:41-43; 7:7-8,19-2741And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. 42And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. 43And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. 7After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. 8I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. • La falsa iglesia de Roma (el sistema religioso) controlará el revivido imperio (el sistema político) por un tiempo. Esto es a lo que se refiere como la mujer (“la gran ramera”) cabalgando la Bestia (Ap. 17:1-13).

• La esperanza del remanente fiel será la venida de su largamente esperado Mesías para establecer el reino, de acuerdo a las Escrituras del Antiguo Testamento (Sal. 2).
• El evangelio del reino será predicado. Este evangelio anuncia la venida del Rey y Mesías de Israel para establecer el reino prometido en el Antiguo Testamento. Los judíos serán principalmente quienes prediquen este evangelio al principio, pero más tarde, gentiles convertidos también lo predicarán. Para el tiempo en que termine la tribulación habrá sido predicado en todo el mundo. Aquellos que no hayan voluntaria e inteligentemente rechazado el evangelio de la gracia de Dios, predicado en la era cristiana, tendrán oportunidad de creer en este evangelio. Una gran multitud de judíos y gentiles lo creerán, y serán bendecidos sobre la tierra cuando Cristo establezca Su reino (Mt. 24:14; Sal. 96; Ap. 7).
La septuagésima semana de Daniel
• El remanente fiel de los judíos será aconsejado (probablemente por voz de profeta entre ellos) de no tener nada que ver con este pacto, sino de santificar al Señor de los Ejércitos en sus corazones y apoyarse solo en El (Is. 8:11-13; Sal. 20:7).
• La firma de “este pacto con la muerte” y “acuerdo con el infierno” entre los judíos y la Bestia Romana, principia “la semana” de profecía que de las setenta semanas de Daniel, aún resta que se cumpla (Is. 28:15). Esta semana se corresponde con un período de siete años (una semana de años).
• Habrá luego un tiempo de tribulación por siete años que vendrá sobre todo el mundo (Ap. 3:10), pero especialmente sobre los judíos (Jer. 30:77Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. (Jeremiah 30:7)). Durante este período, Dios tratará con la nación de Israel para traer a aquellos que son fieles de entre ellos (los que tienen fe), hacia las bendiciones del reino. Juicios providenciales
• Los primeros tratos del Señor con la tierra en el período de tribulación, serán de carácter providencial (ejemplo, terremotos, hambruna, pestilencias, etc.). Estos tratos son llamados los juicios de los sellos (Ap. 6:1-17; Mt. 24:6-7).
• No mucho después de que los judíos hayan retornado a su tierra, las condiciónes de Oriente Medio, Europa occidental y probablemente América (conocida como la tierra profética), se tornarán conflictivas. Los conflictos crecerán en cada aspecto de la vida. La violencia y el derramamiento de sangre abundarán; la paz civil desaparecerá de la tierra (Ap. 6:3-4; 2º sello).
• Guerras y rumores de guerra abundarán (Mt. 24:6-7).
• Mientras las cosas progresan durante los primeros tres y medio años de tribulación, la agricultura comenzará a fallar y una gran hambruna sobrevendrá. El llanto y el dolor se multiplicarán (Ap. 6:5-6; 3º sello; Mt. 24:7).
• La clase rica alta (“el vino y el aceite”) no será afectada inicialmente por la escasez. Muchos de ellos serán judíos que han amasado grandes riquezas para sí mismos. Sin embargo, la clase trabajadora sufrirá severamente (Ap. 6:6).
• Pestilencias (enfermedades) se derramarán sobre Europa occidental (la cuarta parte de la tierra). La muerte sobrevendrá por estas pestilencias (Ap. 6:7-8; 4º sello; Mt. 24:7).
• Mientras la escena en la tierra continúa oscureciéndose, el sistema religioso corrupto de Roma, con su gobierno totalitario sobre las nuevas naciones unidas de Europa occidental, comenzará a martirizar a los testigos judíos que han estado predicando el evangelio del reino. Roma verá a estos testigos como revolucionarios que estarán tratando de socavar su control sobre el imperio, propagando doctrinas de otro gobierno o poder que pretende derrocarlo. (Como lo mencionamos anteriormente, el evangelio del reino que estos testigos predicarán, son las noticias de la venida del Mesías de Israel para subyugar todo dominio, poder y nación, y establecer Su trono de gobierno universal en Sión — Jerusalén, desde donde gobernará sobre el mundo.) Satanás será arrojado a la tierra
• En la mitad de la semana número setenta de Daniel habrá una guerra en los cielos: Él arcángel Miguel y sus ángeles vencerán a Satanás y sus ángeles, arrojándolos fuera del cielo, sobre la tierra (Ap. 12:7-12).

• Satanás también controlará a los otros líderes subalternos (“estrellas”) del imperio (Ap. 12:4).

El anticristo
• Por este tiempo, otro hombre se levantará en el pueblo de Israel, también ayudado por Satanás (2 Ts. 2:9). • El hombre de pecado (anticristo) se presentará ante los judíos como su Mesías, y ellos como nación lo recibirán sin ninguna credencial, y le harán su rey. (Daniel 11:36‑39)
36This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king. 37Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. 38And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold. 39And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. (Daniel 2:36‑39) S. 15:2-6,11*).

El pacto roto

La abominación de la desolación

(Daniel 3:1‑7)*; 9:27; 12:11; Mt. 24:15; Ap. 13:12-15; 2 R. 16:10-18*).
• Dios también enviará un gran engaño para engañar a los habitantes de toda la tierra, ya que ellos han rechazado el llamado de Dios a través del evangelio; por lo tanto les será dado creer en las artimañas del anticristo. Then they brought these men before the king. 14Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? 15Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of music, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? 16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. 17If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. 19Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. 20And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. 21Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. 22Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. 23And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. 24Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. 25He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. (Daniel 3:1‑25)*; 7:21; Mt. 10:16-23; 24:21-22; Mr. 13:19; Mi. 7:2).
La gran tribulación
• La Bestia con el anticristo tomarán entonces total control de la tierra de Israel. La mantendrán por los últimos 3½ años dentro de su imperio. Todo en la tierra estará bajo su dominio (Ap. 11:2; Lc. 21:24; Ex. 3-12*).
• Como todo el conocimiento de Dios será abolido en el reino de la Bestia y del anticristo, habrá hambre por la Palabra de Dios. La gente buscará la Palabra del Señor y no la encontrará (Am. 8:11-12).
• A causa de la impiedad que la idolatría que el anticristo traerá sobre la ciudad de Jerusalén y de la persecución que crecerá, el remanente fiel será forzado a escapar a las montañas, a las cuevas y a las guaridas de la tierra, por su seguridad. Serán perseguidos más allá de toda medida (Is. 66:5; Sal. 42-72 — 2º libro de Salmos; Mt. 24:16-21; 1 S. 19-27*; 2 S. 15:13-17,29*; Jer. 36:2626But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the Lord hid them. (Jeremiah 36:26)*; Ap. 12:6; 14:15).
• Algunos judíos del remanente fiel escaparan a las montañas de Judea para refugiarse (Mt. 24:16).
• Algunos de este remanente escaparán hacia el este, hacia la tierra de Moab (hoy Jordania; Is. 16:3-4; 1 S. 22:34; Sal. 44:11; Sal. 61:2).
• Otros irán hacia el norte, hacia el monte Hermón ubicado en el Líbano (Sal. 42:6).
• Otros del remanente irán hacia varias ciudades de Israel predicando el evangelio del reino (Mt. 10:23).
• Aunque la mayor parte del remanente escapará, algunos aparentemente se quedarán en Jerusalén. Dios los usará para mantener allí un testimonio adecuado de Sí mismo (representado por los “dos testigos”) ante la misma idolatría. Ellos serán milagrosamente protegidos por Dios durante todo el tiempo de su testimonio (1260 días; Ap. 11:3-13).
El colapso de la economía occidental
• A medida que progrese la gran tribulación, se terminará la prosperidad que el mundo occidental ha conocido. Los ricos que no fueron afectados por la escasez durante los primeros 3½ años, experimentarán ahora las condiciónes de hambre, que se habrán esparcido a través del mundo occidental (Ap. 8:7; 1ª trompeta).
• Por este tiempo, un gran poder político en el occidente (una “gran montaña” en la Biblia es emblemático de un poder gubernamental establecido durante mucho tiempo; Jer. 51:2525Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the Lord, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain. (Jeremiah 51:25); etc.) abandonará su profesado conocimiento de Dios. Este, tal vez, podrían ser U.S.A. o algún otro gobierno líder de occidente. • También en este tiempo toda la economía del mundo occidental colapsará. El comercio será destruido (Ap. 8:9; “las naves fueron destruidas”).
• Luego una gran personalidad (una gran estrella llamada ajenjo) en una alta posición de influencia, caerá llevando las masas del occidente a la apostasía. La apostasía es el abandono del conocimiento de Dios profesado. No se sabe quién será esta persona (Ap. 8:10-11; 3ª trompeta).
• Luego de esto, muchos otros líderes influyentes del occidente caerán, llevando todas las personas restantes a la apostasía y a la adoración de la Bestia. Como resultado de esto, una oscuridad moral y espiritual inundará todo el mundo (Ap. 8:12; 4ª trompeta).
• El anticristo (“la estrella que cae”), el falso Mesías de los judíos, se presentará en todo su carácter satánico. El liberará un engaño satánico entenebrecedor que vendrá del abismo, sobre los judíos inicuos apóstatas que lo han elegido para su propia confusión. Su misión en este tiempo, será llevar totalmente a la apostasía a cualquier remanente de los judíos en la tierra. El tormento de una conciencia culpable (la picadura de un escorpión) será la aflicción de todos aquellos a quienes engañe (Ap. 9:1-12; 5ª trompeta).
• La abierta idolatría, la adoración de la Bestia (Dn. 6:77All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. (Daniel 6:7); Ap. 13:4) y del anticristo (2 Ts. 2:3-4), serán practicadas. Las una vez iluminadas tierras de la cristiandad e Israel, se entregarán a la adoración demoníaca. • Falsos cristos y falsos profetas se levantarán en la tierra de Israel, mostrando señales y maravillas que desviarán a algunos (Mt. 24:23-26).
Las siete plagas finales
• En este tiempo Dios derramará sobre la tierra las siete plagas finales (copas o tazones). Estos juicios tienen un alcance mayor que los juicios de las trompetas (Ap. 8-9), que están confinados al mundo occidental. Los juicios de las copas serán más particularmente sobre los paganos de las naciones distantes, pero no exclusivamente sobre ellos. Parece que estas postreras plagas endurecerán a los hombres que han rechazado a Dios, y los preparará para ser agentes obedientes del reclutamiento de Satanás en el holocausto por venir (Ap. 15-16; Sal. 79:6,12).
• Cualquier seguidor individual de la Bestia en las naciones distantes más allá de la tierra occidental, que haya recibido voluntariamente su marca y adorado su imagen, será profundamente afectado por una dolorosa llaga. Esta será la terrible aflicción de una conciencia culpable. La miseria y el temor que desgasta la mente, será el resultado de este castigo (Ap. 16:2; 1ª copa).
• Aquellos en las naciones distantes que no hayan creído en el evangelio del reino (Mt. 24:14), apostatarán de la luz que hayan tenido de Dios. Tal vez este será un intento de escapar de los tormentos de sus conciencias culpables (Ap. 16:3; 2ª copa).
• El gozo natural y el bienestar de la vida serán quitados de aquellos que están en las naciones distantes. Esta será la retribución de Dios por perseguir a Sus santos que han ido por el mundo predicando el evangelio del reino (Mt. 24:14). Les será hecho tomar de la amargura de su propia apostasía. La vida en estas regiones estará signada por la miseria y la frustración (Ap. 16:4-7; 3ª copa).
• Una gran autoridad de gobierno (bajo el signo del sol) en las naciones distantes, se transformará en la causa de una espantosa opresión sobre los hombres. Este, tal vez, es el trabajo de algunas tácticas gubernamentales en la mano Gog (Rusia), estrechando su puño sobre sus súbditos. Los hombres se endurecerán aun más como resultado de esto (Ap. 16:8-9; 4ª copa).
• La oscuridad moral y espiritual se esparcirá sobre los súbditos del reino de la Bestia. Esto probablemente se refiere a un horrible sentimiento del abandono de Dios que vendrá sobre ellos. También se endurecerán totalmente contra Dios (Ap. 16:10-11; 5ª copa).
• Con los hombres y las mujeres de las naciones distantes (4ª copa) y del mundo occidental (5ª copa) totalmente endurecidos contra Dios, el escenario estará preparado para que los hombres sean usados como instrumento de Satanás en la guerra por venir donde él los dirigirá en una batalla contra su propio Hacedor (Ap. 16:13-14; 19:19).
• Aunque las masas en occidente y en las naciones distantes se endurecerán a sí mismas contra Dios, habrá una gran multitud de personas que se volverán a Dios y creerán en el evangelio del reino (Ap. 7:9-17). Este evangelio será predicado como una última llamada a Israel (Sal. 95) y a las naciones gentiles (Sal. 96), antes de que el Señor aparezca desde el cielo para el juicio (Sal. 97).
• A medida que la tribulación se dirija hacia su final, los dos testigos, que mantendrán un testimonio de Dios en Jerusalén en el medio de la apostasía, serán muertos por la Bestia. Sus cuerpos yacerán en las calles de la ciudad de Jerusalén por 3½ días. Esto es literal (Ap. 11:7). Pero “el triunfo de los malos es corto” (Job 20:55That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment? (Job 20:5)). Los dos testigos, luego de yacer en las calles de Jerusalén por 3½ días, serán resucitados y llamados arriba al cielo. Como resultado de esto, un temor muy grande caerá sobre todos (Ap. 11:11-12).
• En este tiempo tomará lugar el cumplimiento de la primera resurrección. Todos aquellos que hayan creído en el evangelio del reino predicado durante los siete años de tribulación, y hayan muerto por el martirio, serán levantados para unirse con los santos celestiales. Habrá dos clases de santos martirizados que se levantarán: aquellos que hayan sido muertos bajo el reino de la falsa iglesia (la gran ramera) en los primeros 3½ años (Ap. 6:9-11), y aquellos muertos bajo el reinado de la Bestia y el anticristo en los últimos 3½ años (Ap. 15:24). Ambos compartirán las bendiciones celestiales, y más, vivirán y reinaran con Cristo sobre la tierra cuando Él establezca Su reino sobre ella (Ap. 14:13; 20:4-5).
