222. Everlasting Glory Be

7s.
by J.W. Smith
1
Everlasting glory be,

God and Father, unto Thee!

’Tis with joy Thy children raise

Hearts and voices in Thy praise.
2
Thou the light that showed our sin,

Showed how guilty we had been:

Thine the love that us to save

Thine own Son for sinners gave.
“But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.” (Ephesians 5:13)
“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.” (John 3:19-20)
“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.” (1 John 4:9)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

Called to share the rest of God

In the Father’s blest abode,

God of love, and God of light,

In Thy praises we unite.
“In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:2)
“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” (1 John 4:8)
“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” (1 John 1:5)
“My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.” (Psalm 22:25)
4
Gladly we Thy grace proclaim,

Knowing now the Father’s name:

God and Father, unto Thee

Everlasting glory be!
“I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.” (John 17:6)
“For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” (Romans 11:36)
“To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen. <<Written to the Romans from Corinthus, and sent by Phebe servant of the church at Cenchrea.>>.” (Romans 16:27)
