Christ the especial object of. Luke 2:52⁵²And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. (Luke 2:52).

IS THE SOURCE OF

Mercy. Isa. 60:10¹⁰And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favor have I had mercy on thee. (Isaiah 60:10).

Spiritual life. Psa. 30:5⁵For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. (Psalm 30:5).

Spiritual wisdom leads to. Prov. 8:26²⁶While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. (Proverbs 8:26)

Mercy and truth lead to. Prov. 3:3, 4³Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: ⁴So shalt thou find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man. (Proverbs 3:3‑4),

SAINTS

Obtain. Prov. 12:2²A good man obtaineth favor of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn. (Proverbs 12:2).

Encompassed by. Psa. 5:12¹²For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favor wilt thou compass him as with a shield. (Psalm 5:12).

Strengthened by. Psa. 30:7⁷Lord, by thy favor thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. (Psalm 30:7)

Victorious through. Psa. 44:3³For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favor unto them. (Psalm 44:3).

Preserved through. Job 10:12¹²Thou hast granted me life and favor, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit. (Job 10:12).

Exalted in. Psa. 89:17¹⁷For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favor our horn shall be exalted. (Psalm 89:17).

Sometimes tempted to doubt Psa. 77:7⁷Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favorable no more? (Psalm 77:7).

Domestic blessings traced to. Pro. 18:22²²Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favor of the Lord. (Proverbs 18:22).

Disappointment of enemies an assured evidence of. Psa. 41:11¹¹By this I know that thou favorest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. (Psalm 41:11).

Given in answer to prayer. Job 33:26²⁶He shall pray unto God, and he will be favorable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness. (Job 33:26).

Pray for. Psa. 106:4⁴Remember me, O Lord, with the favor that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation; (Psalm 106:4). Psa. 119:58⁵⁸I entreated thy favor with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word. (Psalm 119:58).

Plead, in prayer Exo. 33:13¹³Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people. (Exodus 33:13). Num. 11:15¹⁵And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favor in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness. (Numbers 11:15).

To be acknowledged. Psa. 85:1¹<<To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.>> Lord, thou hast been favorable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob. (Psalm 85:1).

THE WICKED

Uninfluenced by. Isa. 26:10¹⁰Let favor be showed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the Lord. (Isaiah 26:10).

Do not obtain. Isa. 27:11¹¹When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off: the women come, and set them on fire: for it is a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and he that formed them will show them no favor. (Isaiah 27:11). Jet 16:13.

Exemplified. Naphtali, Deu. 33:23. Samuel, 1 Sam. 2:26. Job, Job 10:12¹²Thou hast granted me life and favor, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit. (Job 10:12). The Virgin Mary, Luke 1:28, 30²⁸And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. (Luke 1:28)
³⁰And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. (Luke 1:30). David, Acts 7:46⁴⁶Who found favor before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob. (Acts 7:46).
