Fritzy

When Grandpa was a boy, one of his neighbors had a miniature Doberman pincer, named Fritzy. He was a very cute, very smart little dog. He had been trained to do many tricks  ... he could put his paws together and close his eyes to “pray.” He could play dead  ... walk on only his front legs or only his back legs  ... jump like a frog  ... and pretend that food was poisonous. But he could not be trained to stay in his own yard. Much as his owners loved him and tried to train him to stay home for his own safety, he refused to learn that lesson. He loved to wander the streets, and sometimes Grandpa would see that little dog over a mile away from his safe home.
One day Fritzy was out wandering and he met a German shepherd who was normally shut up in a pen. This day the door to his pen was open. Fritzy was small but he was brave and he didn’t really know how small he was. He decided to attack that big German shepherd. Within a few minutes, Fritzy was dying.
Children, this little dog makes me think of many boys and girls and of myself when I was a child. Sometimes we can look like very good children, we pray along with our parents, we act the way our parents want us to act, but perhaps we don’t have a heart made truly obedient through love to the Lord Jesus. In our hearts, we want our own way, so we are disobedient, perhaps when we think no one is looking.
Fritzy got away with his disobedience for a while, but one day it cost him his life. We have an enemy called Satan who will destroy us if he can. We are not stronger than he is. If we don’t have the Lord Jesus as our Savior to keep us safe, we will one day be dead forever in a terrible place called hell. I hope you will trust the Lord Jesus and not wait until it is too late. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and [you will] be saved” (Acts 16:3131And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31)).
If you are a Christian, you can trust the Lord to keep you from evil and from Satan, every day, as it says in this beautiful verse: “The Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil” (2 Thessalonians 3:33But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)).
