The prime, the great purpose of God, both in creation and redemption, is the manifestation of Himself, or, in other words, the glory of His own Name. Glory is the bright display of the perfections of God; the making anything appear to be that which it really is in its own transcendent excellency. Thus Jesus glorified the Father, that is, He, in His own Person and work, made the glorious and blessed God to appear, or manifested God to be the Being He is.
