Head of the Church

This is one of the titles of Christ, taken from Col. 1:18¹⁸And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. (Colossians 1:18), whence the Church is regarded as the body of Christ. The “Head” and the “body” together are spoken of as “the Christ” in 1 Cor. 12:12¹²For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:12) (lit.).
