In Christ

This is the standing of the believer, by which is meant that he is not looked at apart from Christ, but in such connection with Him that he is viewed as having all His beauties and graces; hence the words, “As he is, so are we in this world”. The phrase is expressive of the most perfect security. It is used in 2 Cor. 12:22I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. (2 Corinthians 12:2); Gal. 1:22; 3:2822And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judea which were in Christ: (Galatians 1:22)
28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28)
; Eph. 2:1010For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10); Phil. 1:1; 4:211Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons: (Philippians 1:1)
21Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you. (Philippians 4:21)
; Col. 1:22To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. (Colossians 1:2); 1 Thess. 2:1414For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: (1 Thessalonians 2:14); 1 Peter 5:1414Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen. (1 Peter 5:14), &c., &c. It is a very wonderful and beautiful expression.
