Is the Earth Crumbling?

What a strange thought! But the many tragic disasters of just one recent year can suggest such thoughts. It isn’t happening — no, not now — not yet. The succession of tragic disasters that have hit our world recently are certainly cause for thought: earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, tornados, floods and fires — the list could go on and on.
We can see why people should be questioning the stability of the earth. BUT the time will come when, as the Bible (the Word of God) tells us, the Lord shall rise “to shake terribly the earth.” And the people, the inhabitants, men and women like you and me, will be trying to hide in the dens and caves of the earth for fear of the things that are coming on the earth.
After that time comes, there will no longer be the gentle Saviour pleading for you to come to Him, but the stern Judge saying, “I never knew you: depart from Me.” The gospel of God’s grace will not be preached then; there will be no repetition of “God so loved the world  ... ” and another plea to “come to the Saviour.” The day of God’s grace will be past. What will be left? Only a “fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation” (Hebrews 10:2727But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. (Hebrews 10:27)).
How terrible! And how hopeless!
