“As it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. (Luke 17:26‑30)). In Noah’s day they married; in Lot’s day they did not. Our day is becoming more like Lot’s than Noah’s — a dreadful state for a world that has had the light and love of Christianity shine upon it. Any day now “Lot” will leave Sodom, and it will rain fire and brimstone. May we each value more than ever the institution of marriage and encourage its continuance. It is the first institution God began for man’s good, and God has determined that it, by the marriage of the Lamb, will remain an institution forever.
