Question:
Job 22:30
30
He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands. (Job 22:30)
. What is the meaning of the first clause?
Answer:
There is no “island” expressed in either the Sept. or Vulgate, which removes one difficulty. But Schultens seems to have perceived first that the word so translated is a negative, as we see in Ichabod. That sense therefore is quite opposed by those two ancient versions, and it should run thus: “Him that is not guiltless shall He deliver: yea, he shall be delivered by the pureness of thy hands.”
