We have here a picture of a mountain in the western part of the United States. Perhaps some of our readers live near enough to this mountain to see it from their homes. It is a very beautiful sight, with the pretty lake and big trees in the foreground.
“As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about His people from henceforth even forever.” Psalm 125:22As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever. (Psalm 125:2).
So those whom the Lord is protecting can never be harmed.
“The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and He shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, ‘Destroy them.’” Deut. 33:2727The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them. (Deuteronomy 33:27).
There is one enemy who would like to keep away from the Lord, all those who do not yet know Him; and draw away from Him all who do know Him. This enemy is Satan. But Jesus says, ‘‘MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE, AND I KNOW THEM, AND THEY FOLLOW ME: AND I GIVE UNTO THEM ETERNAL LIFE: AND THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH.” John 10:27, 2827My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (John 10:27‑28).
