We have here Zechariah the son of Iddo in the days of Joiakim son of Jeshua; and in the Targums, in Jeremiah, the Jews are accused of slaying Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophet and priest, in the sanctuary. Note in Zachariah 1:1 Berechiah is the son of Iddo; compare Matt. 23:3636Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. (Matthew 23:36), “Zacharias the son of Barachias." So that we have remarkable historical probability of Zechariah the prophet's being so killed, but I avow that 2 Chron. 24, being nearly the last chapter in the Hebrew Bible, I think it exceedingly probable that it may have been the Zechariah referred to in verse 20 that the Lord refers to, "Son of Barachias" being an addition.
