Notes on Isaiah. Chapter 26

Isaiah 26  •  1 min. read  •  grade level: 11
9 and 21. "The inhabitants of the earth"; compare Apocalypse 3:10, "Them that dwell upon earth." Note the difference, too, between 2 Peter 2:99The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: (2 Peter 2:9), where the comparison is with Noah and Lot, who passed through the tribulation, and Apocalypse 3:10. In Peter, we have rhuesthai ek peirasmou (deliver from temptation) and in the Apocalypse tereso ek us horas you peirasmou (I will keep from the hour of temptation). The difference is evident, and confirms the force of this latter, as interpreted, for the deliverance of the faithful Remnant; quod rota.
This chapter specially belongs to Judah, and the circumstances connected with that, before the indignation be overpast.
