I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts. (Ecclesiastes 2:8)
, where “the peculiar treasure of kings” is gathered by Solomon, these expressions both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament refer to what God’s people are to Him (
Ex. 19:5

Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: (Exodus 19:5)

For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth. (Deuteronomy 14:2)

is a little different: “Ye are a people for a possession.” (compare
