JESUS in Thee my soul would find
Its full and true delight,
While passing through this vale of tears,
To yonder home of light.
Would know Thee better every step
Along this thorny way,
Till I behold Thy blessed face
In heaven's eternal day.
I'd know Thee, Lord, as
One who trod
This weary desert road,
In every thought, and word, and deed,
Doing the will of God.
Thy path, beset with trials sore,
So little understood,
Thy great delight Thy Father's will,
To others doing good.
To Calvary, with its grief and woe,
Thy blessed pathway led,
Where Thou didst bear the wrath of God,
And suffered in my stead.
Where Thou didst brave that storm for me,
My load of sin didst bear,
That I, throughout eternal days,
Might all Thy glories share.
Ah, Lord, when thus Thy path I trace,
And think of all Thy love,
The more I long Thy face to see,
And be with Thee above.
Then keep me, Lord, with heart and mind
Delighting more in Thee,
Until I've left this weary land,
And all Thy glory see.
