The amount paid to effect the deliverance or redemption of a slave or captive. Our ransom money is not silver or gold, but the precious blood of Christ, which is indeed His life (1 Peter 1:18¹⁸Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; (1 Peter 1:18); Matt. 20:28²⁸Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. (Matthew 20:28)).
