19. The Great City: The public confederation of European civilization; all that was established within the Roman Empire.
The Cities of the Nations: All that the nations outside of Rome had built up politically. The other European centers of social life.
21. Hail the Weight of a Talent: Rapid and overwhelming incursions of hostile armies (Joel 2:2, 92A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.
