(white). Used by Hebrews from earliest times for money, vessels, and ornaments, but not in form of coins till after the captivity (Gen. 13:2; 24:53; 44:2²And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. (Genesis 13:2)
⁵³And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things. (Genesis 24:53)
²And put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack's mouth of the youngest, and his corn money. And he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken. (Genesis 44:2); Job 28:1¹Surely there is a vein for the silver, and a place for gold where they fine it.
