Two young men were in the sauna at a fitness center. After being there a few minutes, one of them exclaimed, “Whew! Isn’t it hot! If it is much hotter than this down below, we will not last long.”
A Christian nearby said in a low voice, “Forever.”
The young men laughed, and one said, “Ah, so they tell us!”
The Christian repeated the word “forever” and reminded them that the same book which reveals the future of God’s people and their happy existence forever and ever also tells us of the eternity of the lost — in the lake of fire — which is forever and ever.
Think of eternity and its unmeasured and unmeasurable ages. Sit down and face the fact. Ask yourself that solemn question: “Where will I spend eternity?”
Do not let another day, another hour, pass. “Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near” (Isaiah 55:66Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: (Isaiah 55:6)).
Now He sits as the Savior, and whoever will may know Him, but He will soon take His place as Judge. There will be no mercy then, no salvation — nothing but judgment, nothing but sorrow. There will be no end to the wretchedness and sorrow of hell. But how different if you turn to Jesus now and accept the great salvation which has been purchased at the cost of His own blood. Then there will be no end to your joy. As the Word of God says, “In Thy presence is fullness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:1111Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. (Psalm 16:11)).
