 The “little sister” appears to me to be Ephraim, which has never had the same development that Judah received through the manifestation of Christ, and through all that took place after the captivity of the ten tribes. For all the moral affections of Judah were formed on their relationship to Christ, on His rejection, and on the sentiments which this produced when the Spirit caused it to be felt (Isa. 50-53).  Restored and happy in the love of the Bridegroom, the bride is free to think of the blessing of others. If, in the strict interpretation of the Song, the bride represents God's earthly people - the Jews - restored and brought into blessing under Christ, the "little sister" will probably represent Ephraim, or the ten tribes.  Ephraim, or the long-lost ten tribes, are referred to, we doubt not, by the " little sister." Their captivity had taken place before the birth of Christ; so that they know nothing of the exercise through which Judah, or the two tribes, have passed with reference to the birth, death, resurrection, and return of the Messiah. Nevertheless they come into the enjoyment of the blessed results of His first coming in grace, and of His second coming in glory.
