He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened He not His mouth.
The Lord Jesus never fought back. When the band of men came to arrest Him, He gave Himself up. He submitted to all the hatred, jeers and mocking. He allowed them to nail Him to a cross. Why? Because He came to die. He came to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Wonderful Saviour. Wonderful grace in leaving heaven to die on the cross for you and me.
