The Grave of Lazarus

John 11
THE mourning sisters weep around
Their brother's early grave;
But soon their heart a friend had found,
One who had power to save.
Lazarus, he sleeps the deathlike sleep—
He slumbers in the tomb; Jesus beholds the sisters weep,
In all their downcast gloom.
And He too weeps! He mingles tears
With those whose brother slept;
Their grief upon His heart He bears,
Yes, Jesus—Jesus wept!
The massive stone was rolled away—
With majesty He spoke—
And lo! behold! the lifeless clay—
The sleeping Lazarus woke!
