Before the saints in heaven will be able to reign in righteousness, our own works during our lifetime will have to come into review and be judged at the judgment seat of Christ, tried with fire, which is God's holy character. Nothing will do but this, because in the place where we shall dwell in heaven, all things will be of God.
Any of our works regarded as gold, silver, and precious stones will pass unscathed through the fire and bring a reward, but the wood, hay, and stubble will suffer complete loss. All saints will be saved, but some so as by fire because of unacceptable works which will be destroyed.
1 Cor. 3:12-16
12
Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13
Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
14
If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15
If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
16
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? (1 Corinthians 3:12‑16)
. Our sins are gone; our works will be judged.
Only believers will be at the judgment seat of Christ when our works will be evaluated and when I shall know even as also I am known (
1 Cor. 13:12
12
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. (1 Corinthians 13:12)
), all pure without and within, not an unwanted thought.
Think of secrets lying deep in the recesses of our hearts, perhaps long forgotten, which will be manifested. Would we like them hidden for eternity? Surely not! "For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known."
Luke 12:2
2
For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. (Luke 12:2)
. All will be brought to light to clear the mind forever of everything that darkens the memory and the heart, out of which are the issues of life.
Prov. 4:23
23
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:23)
. What grace of our Savior!
As a result of the judgment seat for our works, each soul shall be rewarded.
1 Cor. 3:12-15
12
Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
(1 Corinthians 3:12‑15)
. "Then shall every man have praise of God."
1 Cor. 4:5
5
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God. (1 Corinthians 4:5)
. Some also shall reign over cities in the millennial kingdom (
Luke 19:17-19
17
And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
18
And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
19
And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities. (Luke 19:17‑19)
), others will be given positions in connection with the universe and the administration of it.
Heb. 12:22,23
22
But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
23
To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, (Hebrews 12:22‑23)
.
Matt. 19:28
28
And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. (Matthew 19:28)
.
Luke 12:44
44
Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. (Luke 12:44)
.
Thus righteous principles of action will be learned so as to reign with Christ in garments pure and bright (
Rev. 19:8
8
And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. (Revelation 19:8)
,
1 Cor. 13:12
12
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. (1 Corinthians 13:12)
), the heart enlightened by righteousness in application in our own new life. "We through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith."
Gal. 5:5
5
For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. (Galatians 5:5)
