NO FOUR words are more expressive, or descriptive of what the good news of salvation for man consists of, or how it has been accomplished, than CHRIST DIED FOR US.—Rom. 5:8⁸But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8).

The Son of the living God, the Lamb of God, the brightness of the Father’s Glory, the express image of His person, God manifest in the flesh, willingly took on Him the form, of a servant to seek and save the lost.

Died for the ungodly. —Rom. 5:6⁶For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. (Romans 5:6). Died for our sins. —1 Cor. 15:3³For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; (1 Corinthians 15:3). Died for us. —1 Thess. 5:10¹⁰Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. (1 Thessalonians 5:10). Being made a curse for us. —Gal. 3:13¹³Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: (Galatians 3:13).

The just for the unjust. —1 Peter 3:18¹⁸For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: (1 Peter 3:18). His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree. —1 Peter 2:24²⁴Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. (1 Peter 2:24). Even sacrificed or slain for us. —1 Cor. 5:7⁷Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: (1 Corinthians 5:7). Gave Himself for us.—Titus 2:14¹⁴Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. (Titus 2:14).

The Lord laid on Him the iniquity of us all. —Is. 53:6. He laid down His life for us. By this means obtained eternal redemption for us. —Heb. 9:12¹²Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. (Hebrews 9:12).

So you see, my dear young reader, that the work of Christ is a work done in our place and stead; and, being God’s own work, must have been a complete and finished one, not left for man to add to or improve it, and surely it is enough for you, dear young friend.
