What Do You Believe?

Listen from:
Lydia is a very shy nine-year-old girl. She goes to a school where the teachers are permitted to talk to the children about the values of right and wrong that the Bible teaches.
One day in a religion class, the children were asked what they believed. When it came time for Lydia to answer the question, she answered that Jesus was her Saviour and that He had died on the cross for her.
There was a boy in Lydia’s class who had the terrible disease of cancer. When it was his turn to answer the same question, he said that he didn’t believe in anything.
This boy was too sick to go outside for recess. So each recess time, the teacher told him he could choose a classmate to stay inside with him. He often chose Lydia. Sometime later when they were both inside at recess time, he told Lydia that he now believed what she believed. How happy that must have made Lydia to know that he now belonged to Jesus too.
This young boy who was so sick didn’t come back to school after the school vacation for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. We believe that he is now with Jesus who said, “[Let] the little children come unto Me” (Mark 10:1414But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. (Mark 10:14)). And we believe that’s where he is right now—with Jesus in His happy home in heaven.
