Wisdom of God, the.

Is one of His attributes. 1 Sam. 2:3³Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. (1 Samuel 2:3). Job 9:4⁴He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered? (Job 9:4).

DESCRIBED AS

Perfect. Job 36:4⁴For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee. (Job 36:4). Job 37:16¹⁶Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge? (Job 37:16).

Mighty. Job 36:5⁵Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom. (Job 36:5).

Universal. Job 28:24²⁴For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven; (Job 28:24). Dan. 2:22²²He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. (Daniel 2:22). Acts 15:18¹⁸Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world. (Acts 15:18).

Infinite. Psa. 147:5⁵Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. (Psalm 147:5). Rom. 11:33³³O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! (Romans 11:33).

Unsearchable. Isa. 40:28²⁸Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. (Isaiah 40:28). Rom. 11:33³³O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! (Romans 11:33).

Wonderful. Psa. 139:6⁶Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. (Psalm 139:6).

Beyond human comprehension. Psa. 139:6⁶Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. (Psalm 139:6).

Incomparable. Isa. 44:7⁷And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them show unto them. (Isaiah 44:7). Jer. 10:

Underived. Job 21:22²²Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high. (Job 21:22). Isa. 40:44.

The gospel contains treasures of. 1 Cor. 2:7⁷But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: (1 Corinthians 2:7).

Wisdom of saints is derived from. Ezra 7:25²⁵And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not. (Ezra 7:25).

All human wisdom derived from. Dan. 2:21²¹And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: (Daniel 2:21).

Saints ascribe to Him. Dan. 2:20²⁰Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: (Daniel 2:20).

EXHIBITED IN

His works. Job 37:16¹⁶Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge? (Job 37:16). Psa. 104:24²⁴O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. (Psalm 104:24). Psa. 136:5⁵To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever. (Psalm 136:5). Prov. 3:19¹⁹The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. (Proverbs 3:19). Jer. 10:12¹²He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. (Jeremiah 10:12).

His counsels. Isa. 28:29²⁹This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working. (Isaiah 28:29). Jer. 32:19¹⁹Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings: (Jeremiah 32:19).

His foreshowing events. Isa. 42:9⁹Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. (Isaiah 42:9). Isa. 46:10¹⁰Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: (Isaiah 46:10).

Redemption. 1 Cor. 1:24²⁴But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. (1 Corinthians 1:24). Eph. 1:8⁸Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; (Ephesians 1:8). Eph. 3:10¹⁰To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, (Ephesians 3:10).

Searching the heart. 1 Chron. 28:9⁹And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. (1 Chronicles 28:9). Rev. 2:23²³And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. (Revelation 2:23).

EXHIBITED IN KNOWING

The heart. Psa. 44:21²¹Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart. (Psalm 44:21). Prov. 15:11¹¹Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? (Proverbs 15:11). Luke 16:15¹⁵And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. (Luke 16:15).

The actions. Job 34:21²¹For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings. (Job 34:21). Psa. 139:2, 3²Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. ³Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. (Psalm 139:2‑3).

The words. Psa. 139:4⁴For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. (Psalm 139:4).

His saints. 2 Sam. 7:20²⁰And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord God, knowest thy servant. (2 Samuel 7:20). 2 Tim. 2:19¹⁹Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. (2 Timothy 2:19).

The way of saints. Job 23:10¹⁰But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. (Job 23:10). Psa. 1:6⁶For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. (Psalm 1:6).

The want of saints. Deut. 2:7⁷For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing. (Deuteronomy 2:7). Matt. 6:8⁸Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. (Matthew 6:8).

The afflictions of saints. Ex. 3:7⁷And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; (Exodus 3:7). Psa. 142:3³When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me. (Psalm 142:3).

The infirmities of saints. Psa. 103:14¹⁴For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. (Psalm 103:14).

The minutest matters. Matt. 10:29, 30²⁹Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. ³⁰But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. (Matthew 10:29‑30).

The most secret things. Matt. 6:18¹⁸That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly. (Matthew 6:18).

The time of judgment. Matt. 24:36³⁶But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. (Matthew 24:36).

The wicked. Neh. 9:10¹⁰And showedst signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them. So didst thou get thee a name, as it is this day. (Nehemiah 9:10). Job 11:11¹¹For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it? (Job 11:11).

The works, &c. of the wicked. Isa. 66:18¹⁸For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory. (Isaiah 66:18).

Nothing is concealed from. Psa. 139:12¹²Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee. (Psalm 139:12).

The wicked question. Psa. 73:11¹¹And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High? (Psalm 73:11). Isa. 47:10¹⁰For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me. (Isaiah 47:10).

Should be magnified. Rom. 16:27²⁷To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen. <<Written to the Romans from Corinthus, and sent by Phebe servant of the church at Cenchrea.>> (Romans 16:27). Jude 25²⁵To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. (Jude 25).
