Probably all of us enjoy receiving gifts. God delights to give and wants us to be like Him. Christians are encouraged by the Apostle Paul to learn to be generous givers, whose giving would help others to learn about and praise the greatest giver of all, their God. Someone who only sows or plants a little bit of seed will only harvest sparingly or receive a small crop. But if we sow bountifully or generously, we receive a large and bountiful crop. This teaches us to give generously. God gives cheerfully and loves to see us be a cheerful giver as well, not the grudging giver who feels forced by others to share. The result of our giving the way God has instructed will be that our God receives thanksgiving from many hearts. Others will recognize that God has given through us and praise Him as the source of every good gift. They will glorify God when they see our subjection to the wonderful news of Christ. Best of all, when Christians give the same way that God does, then thanks go to Him for a gift that no one can properly put into words. God calls His giving unspeakable because it is better than we can express.
