586. The Cor

Ezekiel 45:14¹⁴Concerning the ordinance of oil, the bath of oil, ye shall offer the tenth part of a bath out of the cor, which is an homer of ten baths; for ten baths are an homer: (Ezekiel 45:14). The cor, which is a homer of ten baths.

The cor or homer was used for either dry or liquid measure. The liquid cor is supposed to have contained seventy-five gallons. The dry cor is supposed to have contained eight bushels and a pint. It is mentioned in 1 Kings 4:22²²And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal, (1 Kings 4:22) and Luke 16:7⁷Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. (Luke 16:7), in both of which places it is rendered “measures.”
