A Beloved Dog Named Sandy

Narrator: Chris Genthree
Listen from:
One day this past winter, Sandy was allowed off his leash for a short time, and he wandered out on a nearby frozen pond. However, the ice was not very thick, and it broke beneath him. He struggled in the freezing cold water, but when he tried to get back onto the ice, it would break off underneath him. Finally, just too tired to struggle any longer, the poor dog went under and drowned.
His owners, an older couple, were so very sad at the loss of their pet that they decided to sell their home. Living near the pond where they lost their beloved dog was just too hard. They moved away so they wouldn’t be reminded of the loss of their beloved pet.
This dog was not only a beloved pet, but he also was treated like a member of the family. He ate with them, sitting on his own chair by the table, and he slept with them at night. He was like their very own child.
The Bible tells us that the Lord Jesus cares about these creatures, and He sees even a sparrow if it falls to the ground. But He loves and cares even more about boys and girls. Matthew 10:33Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, whose surname was Thaddeus; (Matthew 10:3)1 Says, “Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.” He wants every boy and girl to believe on Him, so they will live with Him in heaven someday. Now here is a question for you: Are you ready to live with the Lord Jesus when this life is over? Have your sins been washed away in the blood that He shed on the cross?
Jesus said, “[Let the] little children  ... come unto Me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God” (Luke 18:1616But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. (Luke 18:16)).
