306. And Art Thou With Us, Gracious Lord

C.M.
by P. Doddridge
1
And art Thou with us, gracious Lord,

To dissipate our fear?

Dost Thou proclaim Thyself our God,

Our Father ever near?
“And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him.” (Hebrews 12:5)
“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:20)
2
With such support our souls may rest,

And banish every care;

The darkest path is cheered with smiles,

Since Thou art with us there.
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)
