is the call of each true believer from the earth to a place and a home in heaven. It occurs in
Heb. 3:1
1
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; (Hebrews 3:1)
, where it is peculiarly applicable to Jewish Christians, who were thus called to heaven instead of having a place in “the land.” It is individual in character, and finds its best illustration in Abram (
Heb. 11:8

By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. (Hebrews 11:8)
). His call, however, was
earthly,
and he is thus in contrast to us, but his faith, when in the land, looked on to the heavenly city, and here he is our example.
