I have read of the Saviour’s love,
And a wonderful love it must be;
But did He come down from above
Out of love and compassion for me?
I’ve heard how He suffered and bled,
Of His anguish and death on the tree;
But then is it anywhere said
That He suffered and bled there for me?
I’ve been told of a heaven on high,
Which the children of God will soon see;
But is there a place in the sky
Made ready and furnished for me?
Oh, yes! For His love is as wide
And as deep as the fathomless sea;
And love such as this will provide
All blessings eternal for me!
