Kurios (Lord) is clearly used, I apprehend, as a proper name, for Jehovah, without the article, in Matt. 27:10¹⁰And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me. (Matthew 27:10); Mark 13:20²⁰And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days. (Mark 13:20); Luke 1:15, 58, 76¹⁵For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. (Luke 1:15)
⁵⁸And her neighbors and her cousins heard how the Lord had showed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her. (Luke 1:58)
⁷⁶And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; (Luke 1:76); chap. 2: 9; Acts 7:49⁴⁹Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? (Acts 7:49); Rom. 4:8⁸Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. (Romans 4:8); chap. 9: 28; Heb. 7:21²¹(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:) (Hebrews 7:21); chap. 12:6; and 1 Peter 1:25²⁵But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. (1 Peter 1:25).
