My soul is quickened and united by the Spirit to the second Adam, but It am still in the body of the first Adam. I have still the wretchedness of the flesh, in which dwelleth no good thing, to combat against, and this makes that unceasing conflict, described as, "The flesh lusting against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh." I have all this,. but I so know that the penalty of all this was borne by the Lord Jesus, that I can say, " My God has nothing against me." The whole value of His death is on my side; accepting it, I can say, " I am perfectly clean from all guilt."
