It is probably the modern Ain Kadis, 35 miles west of the Arabah, a stronghold at the base of the mountainous range which constitutes the southern border of Palestine. Israelites murmur against Moses and Aaron, threaten to stone Caleb and Joshua, and provoke God’s anger.
