Q. 389. —(Luke 15:2525Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing. (Luke 15:25).) It has, I think, been overlooked that of Noah and his sons —Genesis 9: 1, 2, 3— the Gentile world “constitute the elder son.” “All that I have is thine” is clearly demonstrated in these verses; and although scattered at the tower of Babel, “the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.” God gave to Abraham and his seed a portion —the land of Canaan: in the fullest sense of the word they “wasted their substance in riotous living;” they will yet come back to the Father’s house, and He will receive them joyfully.
