243. O Lord! We Would Delight in Thee

O Lord! we would delight in Thee,
 
And on Thy care depend;
 
To Thee in every trouble flee,
 
Our safe, unfailing Friend.
“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” (Psalm 37:4)
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
“Deliver me, O Lord, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.” (Psalm 143:9)

When human cisterns all are dried,
 
Thy fullness is the same;
 
May we with this be satisfied,
 
And glory in Thy name.

No good in creatures can be found,

Thou that hast made our heaven secure,

And triumph and adore;
 
Oh that our great concern may be
 
To love and praise Thee more.
