⁹And Jehovah called to the man and said to him, Where art thou?
¹⁰And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and was afraid because I [was] naked, and hid myself.
¹¹And he said, Who told thee that thou [art] naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee not to eat?
¹²And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.
¹³And Jehovah Elohim said to the woman, What [is] this thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent deceived me, and I ate.
¹⁴And Jehovah Elohim said to the serpent, Because thou hast done this, cursed [be] thou above all cattle, and above every beast of the field. On thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all [the] days of thy life.
¹⁵And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: he shall crush thy head, and thou shalt crush his heel.
¹⁶Unto the woman he said, Increasing I will increase thy sorrow and thy conception: in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; unto thy husband [shall be] thy desire, and he shall rule over thee.
¹⁷And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto thy wife's voice, and hast eaten of the tree [of] which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it, cursed [be] the ground for thy sake: in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all thy life's days;
¹⁸and thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to thee, and thou shalt eat herbage of the field;
¹⁹in sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread till thy return unto the ground, for out of it wast thou taken. For dust [art] thou, and unto dust shalt thou return. (Gen. 3:8‑19)

⁶and he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.
⁷And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith Jehovah God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
⁸and I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.
⁹Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of Jehovah, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
¹⁰Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
¹¹Thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, {i}and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.{/i}
