Jer. 23:2‑4• 2Therefore thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel concerning the shepherds that feed my people: Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith Jehovah.
3And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their pastures; and they shall be fruitful and shall multiply.
4And I will raise up shepherds over them, who shall feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be missing, saith Jehovah. (Jer. 23:2‑4)
Ezek. 34:11‑31• 11For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold I, even I, will both search for my sheep, and tend them.
12As a shepherd tendeth his flock in the day that he is among his scattered sheep, so will I tend my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places whither they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.
13And I will bring them out from the peoples, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land; and I will feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the water-courses, and in all the habitable places of the country.
14I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie down in a good fold, and in a fat pasture they shall feed upon the mountains of Israel.
15I will myself feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord Jehovah.
16I will seek the lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up the broken, and will strengthen that which was sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong: I will feed them with judgment.
17And as for you, my flock, thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I judge between sheep and sheep, between the rams and the he-goats.
18Is it too small a thing unto you to have eaten up the good pastures, but ye must tread down with your feet the rest of your pastures; and to have drunk of the settled waters, but ye must foul the rest with your feet?
19And my sheep have to eat that which ye have trodden with your feet, and to drink that which ye have fouled with your feet.
20Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah unto them: Behold, it is I, and I will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep.
21Because ye thrust with side and with shoulder, and push all the weak ones with your horns, till ye have scattered them abroad,
22--I will save my flock, that they may no more be a prey; and I will judge between sheep and sheep.
23And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David: he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.
24And I Jehovah will be their God, and my servant David a prince in their midst: I Jehovah have spoken it.
25And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause evil beasts to cease out of the land; and they shall dwell in safety in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods.
26And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in its season: there shall be showers of blessing.
27And the tree of the field shall yield its fruit, and the earth shall yield its increase; and they shall be in safety in their land, and shall know that I am Jehovah, when I have broken the bands of their yoke and delivered them out of the hand of those that kept them in servitude.
28And they shall no more be a prey to the nations, neither shall the beast of the earth devour them; but they shall dwell in safety, and none shall make them afraid.
29And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the ignominy of the nations any more.
30And they shall know that I Jehovah their God am with them, and that they, the house of Israel, are my people, saith the Lord Jehovah.
31And ye, my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men: I am your God, saith the Lord Jehovah. (Ezek. 34:11‑31)
Luke 15:4‑6• 4What man of you having a hundred sheep, and having lost one of them, does not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
5and having found it, he lays it upon his own shoulders, rejoicing;
6and being come to the house, calls together the friends and the neighbours, saying to them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my lost sheep. (Luke 15:4‑6)
John 10:11‑42• 11I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep:
12but he who serves for wages, and who is not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf seizes them and scatters the sheep.
13Now he who serves for wages flees because he serves for wages, and is not himself concerned about the sheep.
14I am the good shepherd; and I know those that are mine, and am known of those that are mine,
15as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
16And I have other sheep which are not of this fold: those also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one flock, one shepherd.
17On this account the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it again.
18No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have authority to lay it down and I have authority to take it again. I have received this commandment of my Father.
19There was a division again among the Jews on account of these words;
20but many of them said, He has a demon and raves; why do ye hear him?
21Others said, These sayings are not those of one that is possessed by a demon. Can a demon open blind people's eyes?
22Now the feast of the dedication was celebrating at Jerusalem, and it was winter.
23And Jesus walked in the temple in the porch of Solomon.
24The Jews therefore surrounded him, and said to him, Until when dost thou hold our soul in suspense? If thou art the Christ, say so to us openly.
25Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye do not believe. The works which I do in my Father's name, these bear witness concerning me:
26but ye do not believe, for ye are not of my sheep, as I told you.
27My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me;
28and I give them life eternal; and they shall never perish, and no one shall seize them out of my hand.
29My Father who has given them to me is greater than all, and no one can seize out of the hand of my Father.
30I and the Father are one.
31The Jews therefore again took stones that they might stone him.
32Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewn you of my Father; for which work of them do ye stone me?
33The Jews answered him, For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy, and because thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
34Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
35If he called *them* gods to whom the word of God came (and the scripture cannot be broken),
36do ye say of him whom the Father has sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest, because I said, I am Son of God?
37If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not;
38but if I do, even if ye believe not me, believe the works, that ye may know and believe that the Father is in me and I in him.
39They sought therefore again to take him; and he went away from out of their hand
40and departed again beyond the Jordan to the place where John was baptising at the first: and he abode there.
41And many came to him, and said, John did no sign; but all things which John said of this man were true.
42And many believed on him there. (John 10:11‑42)
