Righteousness Imputed.

Predicted. Isa. 56:1¹Thus saith the Lord, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. (Isaiah 56:1). Ezek. 16:14¹⁴And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord God. (Ezekiel 16:14).

Revealed in the gospel. Rom. 1:17¹⁷For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (Romans 1:17).

Is of the Lord. Isa. 45:17¹⁷But Israel shall be saved in the Lord with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end. (Isaiah 45:17).

DESCRIBED AS

The righteousness of faith. Rom. 4:13¹³For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. (Romans 4:13). Rom. 9:30³⁰What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. (Romans 9:30). Rom. 10:6⁶But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) (Romans 10:6).

The righteousness of God, without the law. Rom. 3:21²¹But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; (Romans 3:21).

The righteousness of God by faith in Christ. Rom. 3:22²²Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: (Romans 3:22).

Christ being made righteousness unto us. 1 Cor. 1:30³⁰But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: (1 Corinthians 1:30).

Our being made the righteousness of God, in Christ. 2 Cor. 5:21²¹For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Christ is the end of the law for. Rom. 10:4⁴For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. (Romans 10:4).

Christ called THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Jer. 23:6⁶In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. (Jeremiah 23:6).

Christ brings in an everlasting righteousness. Dan. 9:24²⁴Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. (Daniel 9:24).

Is a free gift. Rom. 5:17¹⁷For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) (Romans 5:17).

God's righteousness never to be abolished. Isa. 51:6⁶Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished. (Isaiah 51:6).

The promises made through. Rom. 4:13¹³For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. (Romans 4:13).

SAINTS

Have, on believing. Rom. 4:5, 11, 24⁵But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (Romans 4:5)
¹¹And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: (Romans 4:11)
²⁴But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; (Romans 4:24).

Clothed with the robe of righteousness. Isa. 61:10¹⁰I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. (Isaiah 61:10).

Exalted in righteousness. Psa. 89:16¹⁶In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. (Psalm 89:16).

Desire to be found in. Phi. 3:9.

Glory in having. Isa. 45:24, 25²⁴Surely, shall one say, in the Lord have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed. ²⁵In the Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory. (Isaiah 45:24‑25).

Exhortation to seek righteousness. Matt. 6:33³³But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33).

The Gentiles attained to. Rom. 9:30³⁰What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. (Romans 9:30).

Blessedness of those who have. Rom. 4:6⁶Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, (Romans 4:6).

THE JEWS

Ignorant of. Rom. 10:3³For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. (Romans 10:3).

Stumble at righteousness by faith. Rom. 9:32³²Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; (Romans 9:32).

Submit not to. Rom. 10:3³For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. (Romans 10:3).

Exemplified. Abraham, Rom. 4:9, 22⁹Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. (Romans 4:9)
²²And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. (Romans 4:22). Gal. 3:6⁶Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. (Galatians 3:6). Paul, Phi. 3:7-9.
