Ministry on This Verse

Observe here, that in these holy scriptures the gospel of God was not come, nor was it then addressed to men: but promised or announced beforehand, as to be sent. The assembly was not even announced: the gospel was announced, but as being yet to come. (Romans 1:1-17 by J.N. Darby)
An example of this is found in lsaiah 56:1: "Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for My salvation is near to come, and My righteousness to be revealed." (Opening Salutations: Romans 1:1-17 by B. Anstey)
The fact that the righteousness of God and the salvation of the soul were promised in the Old Testament shows that the gospel is something distinct from the "mystery" (Eph. 5:32). (Opening Salutations: Romans 1:1-17 by B. Anstey)
