(1 Peter 1:10‑12,20)
“My gospel.” The glad tidings committed to Paul have a wide range. The solid foundation of those glad tidings we have seen unfolded in this epistle — the righteousness of God revealed in justifying the ungodly — both as to sins, up to chapter 5:11, and also as to sin, chapter 5:12-8:4. It also contains the glad tidings of deliverance from sin and law; peace with God; no condemnation to them in Christ Jesus, whether as to sins or sin, and no possible separation from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. (Romans 16 by C. Stanley)
The task which the Holy Spirit accomplished in this epistle, was the presentation of the soul individually before God according to the divine thoughts. Nevertheless this connects itself immediately with the position of the body; and the doctrine respecting the body, the assembly, cannot be separated from it. Now the Apostle informs us distinctly, that the mystery, the assembly, and the gathering together in one of all things under Christ, had been entirely unknown: God had been silent on that subject in the times which were defined by the word ages, the assembly not forming a part of that course of events, and of the ways of God on earth. (Romans 15:8-16:27 by J.N. Darby)
Paul expresses one last desire which he had for the Roman saints (indeed for saints in every place)—that God would "establish" them in the truth. He mentions that this involved two things—having an understanding of his "gospel" and having an understanding of the "mystery." (Appendix: Romans 16 by B. Anstey)

It formed no part of what was unfolded in the ages of time, in which God developed his plans in creation; it was a purpose before, and eternally hidden; it was not in reckoned time. See 1 Cor. 2.7-10; Eph. 3.2-11; 5.32; Col. 1.25-27; 2.2,3.
