Scorpion, the.

Armed with a sharp sting in its tail. Rev. 9:10¹⁰And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. (Revelation 9:10).

Sting of, venomous and caused torment. Rev. 9:5⁵And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. (Revelation 9:5).

Abounded in the great desert. Deut. 8:15¹⁵Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint; (Deuteronomy 8:15).

Unfit for food. Luke 11:12¹²Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? (Luke 11:12).

ILLUSTRATIVE OF.

Wicked men. Ezek. 2:6⁶And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. (Ezekiel 2:6).

Ministers of Antichrist. Rev. 9:3, 5, 10³And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. (Revelation 9:3)

Christ gave His disciples power over Luke 10:19¹⁹Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19).
