Some things seem so harmless, but they aren’t. Take, for instance, a necklace knife. You might want to wear one because you think it’s unique or a good conversation piece to wear, even though common-sense and discretion should tell you that it’s not a good idea.
Patrick Kenney Jr., 42, was celebrating a birthday at a local restaurant in Saugus, Massachusetts. As he was walking through the parking lot to catch a bus to return home, he tripped and fell, apparently stabbing himself with the knife. What a freak accident, but it ended up costing him his life! It left his family, his wife and two young children “trying to make sense of this horrific tragedy. Patrick was a loving father and husband, brother, son and loyal friend to many.”
This man certainly had no intentions of dying that day. Clearly, he thought that wearing a knife hanging off a necklace was not a dangerous thing to do. And many people do not realize the danger that they are in because of their sins. They mistakenly think that God will overlook their sins in the end because of their good works or their good intentions. But God clearly tells us, “Your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear” (Isaiah 59:22But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. (Isaiah 59:2)).
After Jesus rose from the dead, having paid the penalty for our sins on the cross, He said to His disciples, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel [good news] to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be dammed” (Mark 16:15-1615And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (Mark 16:15‑16)). Have you yielded your heart to the Lord Jesus?
