 The Apostle cited a celebrated comedian the more impressively to convict the Corinthians: "Evil communications corrupt good manners." And if a heathen not particularly circumspect over himself or in his plays, gave utterance to a sentiment so applicable to the danger at Corinth, it was the more severe a reproof from such a mouth to the careless saints there.
