I am conscious to myself of nothing: The true force is, "For I am conscious to myself of nothing," or "I have nothing on my conscience;" but the whole passage is rendered loosely in our version, which confounds ἀνακρίνω, in verses 3, 4, with the simple verb in verse 5. (Christian Annotator 2:382)
