A most awful word of warning, and especially as used here! For mark the force of it. It is then God shall be all in all — God who is love. But He is not merely love, which is a false and infidel thought; He is light as well as love. (Lectures on Revelation 21: Part 1 by W. Kelly)

J. N. Darby Translation

8
But to the fearful and unbelieving, and sinners, and those who make themselves abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

W. Kelly Translation

+
8
But for thea cowardly and faithlessb and abominable and murderers and fornicators and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second deathc.

WK Translation Notes

+
a
The T. R. fails to give the article "the," though in Codex Reuchlini Erasmus ought to have seen it written above in red. The Edd. give it.
b
The better authorities support Erasmus and the T. R. in omitting "and sinners" after "faithless," contrary to the Complutensian edition, with very many later MSS.
c
The emphatic form is right in the last clause, where Codex Reuchlini misled Erasmus, etc., and one MS. has only "death." No; it is exactly not death merely because of sin as in Eden at the beginning, nor destructive judgments on the earth as in the past or the future; but now at the end "the second death," because of grace and truth fully come yet rejected, despised, or corrupted. God is not mocked.
